COLLISION UNIT INVESTIGATING HIT-AND-RUN IN BAYONNE

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run that critically injured a pedestrian on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., the Bayonne Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Route 440 and 22nd Street. Responding officers located a male victim, later identified as a 25-year-old Bayonne resident, with life-threatening injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The male was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

This matter is actively being investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Bayonne Police Department.
