Assistant Prosecutor
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Prosecutor. Assistant Prosecutors are responsible for representing the State of New Jersey in all aspects of criminal prosecutions within the jurisdiction of the Office.
Duties include: prosecuting criminal matters within the jurisdiction of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, providing legal advice and guidance to local and in house law enforcement officers, and demonstrating strong community engagement.
Assistant Prosecutors are full-time employees entitled to competitive benefits, including up to 20 vacations day per full calendar year, paid sick time, health insurance, prescription drug plans, life insurance, and enrollment in the Public Employees Retirement System (state pension). The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is a qualifying employer under the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Candidates must be members in good standing with the New Jersey State Bar and have one to five years of relevant work experience. Completion of a New Jersey Criminal Law Clerkship is preferred, though not required. Assistant Prosecutor assignments are based on skill and experience, with the opportunity for growth after one year of employment.
All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and basic medical exam. Applicants are required to establish New Jersey residency within one year of hire and possess a valid driver’s license. The starting salary is $70,000 annually.
