THREE PEDESTRIANS INJURED FOLLOWING AUTOMOBILE COLLISION

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the Bayonne Police Department responded to an automobile collision at the intersection of Avenue C and 16th Street in Bayonne.

Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found that two automobiles had collided at that intersection. After the collision, one of the vehicles travelled onto the sidewalk, striking and injuring three pedestrians who were all juveniles. The injured were transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center.

The first pedestrian, age 1, of Bayonne was treated at the hospital and released. The second pedestrian, age 5, of Bayonne, is in stable condition at the hospital. These two pedestrians are brothers who were trick-or-treating with their grandmother at the time of the incident. Their grandmother was uninjured. The third pedestrian, age 17, of Bayonne, remains in stable condition at the hospital. He is not related to the other juveniles.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officers. No charges have been filed against either driver at this time.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Bayonne Police Department.
