THREE ARRESTS SO FAR IN JUNE 4TH SHOOTING ON WEST SIDE AVENUE

 

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information:

Three individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the June 4th double shooting on West Side and Fairview Avenues in Jersey City. Katrell Trent, age 26, of Jersey City, was arrested on June 7, 2016, and charged with the Attempted Murder of Tyrell Corbin, age 25, of Roselle, NJ, in violation of N.J.S. 2C:5-1 and 11-3 (first degree); Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5b(1); and Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5a(1) (second degree). Darrion K. Trent, age 28, of Jersey City, was arrested on June 8, 2016, and charged with Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1b(1) (second degree). Tony J. Martinez, age 32, of Bayonne, was arrested on June 7, 2016, and charged with Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1b(1) (second degree). Katrell and Darrion are related to each other as brothers. So far, the three arrests have all been for the non-fatal shooting of Corbin, however the fatal shooting of Davon Gordon, age 25, of Bayonne, NJ, is directly related and stems from the same incident. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the fatal shooting of Gordon.

On Saturday, June 4, 2016, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Jersey City Police were dispatched to West Side and Fairview Avenues in Jersey City on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Gordon and Corbin, who had been shot. Gordon sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:15 a.m. Corbin was also transported to the Jersey City Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his lower extremity and was treated and released from the hospital.

The investigation is being conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
