STORE OWNER FATALLY SHOT IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced today that a 61 year-old store owner was fatally shot inside his Bergen Square clothing store during an apparent robbery on Saturday afternoon in Jersey City.

On December 19, 2015, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Jersey City Police were dispatched to Top Plus, located at 905 Bergen Avenue in Jersey City, on a report from a caller hearing a loud thud and male on the floor inside the clothing store at that location. Arriving officers discovered Byungeun Lee, age 61, of Palisades Park, New Jersey, inside the store with an apparent gun-shot wound(s) to his upper body. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:15 p.m. Based on the preliminary investigation, homicide detectives believe the victim was killed during a robbery.

The investigation is being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit. No arrests have been made yet.
