SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT INVESTIGATES SEXUAL ASSAULT IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Monday, July 1, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a Jersey City Police Department patrol unit was alerted to an injured female in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Stevens Avenue in Jersey City.

The woman, a 25-year-old from Bayonne, sustained a laceration on her neck and hand. She was treated at the scene by the responding officers and Emergency Medical Services before being transported to Jersey City Medical Center.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department revealed that the woman and the alleged male suspect had agreed to have consensual sex at an unknown location in Jersey City. This allegedly led to an argument, an alleged sexual assault and an assault with a knife.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1234 or to leave an anonymous tip at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/. All information will be kept confidential.
