Prosecutor Suarez Announces Winners of Creativity Contest

PROSECUTOR SUAREZ ANNOUNCES STUDENT WINNERS OF “HOW MUCH WE LOVE HUDSON COUNTY” DRAWING & CREATIVITY CONTEST

HUDSON COUNTY – With school children throughout the county at home and learning through online instruction as a result of the COVID19 public health emergency, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office launched in March a creativity contest for students to submit artwork, videos and poetry.

With dozens of entries submitted, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez is announcing today the winners from each town and schools that entered, with a total of 17 awardees. Each winner is being presented a $25 Target gift card and all participants are being presented with a certificate.

The “How Much We Love Hudson County Drawing and Creativity Contest” was an opportunity for students to share what they love about their Hudson County town – from its people, to its places, to its sights, smells and sounds – through drawing, video, poems, and more. The contest was open to all students, grades pre-k to 12. Many students submitted work on their own, while some teachers used the contest as a way to get creative with the class with students from entire classes submitting work.

“It was uplifting to see the creativity and messages of hope reflected in the artwork, videos and poems,” said Prosecutor Suarez. “During these difficult times, we thought this would be a positive way for young people to engage in a creative outlet while sharing what they love about their home towns. We thank everyone who participated, including the teachers who used this as a way to showcase their students’ creative talents.”
