Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information:

On Monday, February 29, 2016, at approximately 3:23 A.M., officers from the Jersey City Police Department responded to the 400 block of Pavonia Avenue on a report of a woman screaming for help.

Upon their arrival, they located the victim who reported that she was physically and sexually assaulted at her residence. The victim described the actor as possibly being a Hispanic male that was wearing a black jacket and gloves. A canvass for video surveillance footage was conducted in the area and a person of interest was observed. The person of interest fits the description that was given by the victim. Video surveillance footage depicts the male putting gloves on and then checking door knobs of residences in the area. He is also observed entering the building where the sexual assault occurred. The same male is seen exiting this building prior to the victim leaving the building when she is seeking help. Based on the victim’s description, her account of what occurred, and the surveillance footage, it appears that this person of interest was inside the building where the sexual assault occurred during the time of the sexual assault.

The Special Victims Unit of the Prosecutor’s Office is actively investigating the case. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual depicted in the photos.(Photo 1, Photo 2, Photo 3) Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1234, or by leaving an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office official website at: http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/anonymous-tip/
