Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information pertaining to the fatal shooting inside an Ocean Avenue deli in Jersey City on November 15, 2015. No additional information is available at this time.

Time: Approximately 12:55 p.m.
Location: 383 Ocean Avenue (“Los Yoleros Mini Market Deli”), Jersey City, New Jersey.

Victim: Davonte D. Carswell, age 23, of Jersey City, New Jersey
On November 15, 2015, at approximately 12:55 p.m., Jersey City Police responded to Los Yoleros Mini Market Deli, located at 383 Ocean Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey, on a report of a male shot. Police discovered the victim inside the deli with an apparent gunshot wound(s) to his upper body. The victim was pronounced at the scene shortly after 1:00 p.m. The owner and co-owner of the deli and one employee were arrested for tampering with physical evidence and possession of gambling records after police found an alleged gambling operation inside the business. Police believe the victim’s body was moved inside the location by deli personnel. The three arrested are not believed to be involved with the actual shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the actual homicide. A motive has not been identified.
The following individuals were arrested: Gabino Tineo, age 44, of Jersey City; Isabel Dominguez, age 37, of Jersey City; and Marcelino Ramos, Jr., age 32, of Jersey City. Tineo and Dominguez are believed to be the deli owners. Ramos is believed to be a deli employee.
The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345. All calls will be kept confidential.
