NARCOTICS TASK FORCE ARRESTS BROOKLYN MAN IN HEROIN BUST

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On April 13, 2018, following a short investigation, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Newark Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration arrested a New York City man for the possession and distribution of heroin in Jersey City.

Task Force Officers arrested Hingino Ventura, age 32, of Brooklyn, after 200 grams of heroin were found in a vehicle in which he was observed. The street value of the total quantity of heroin seized is approximately $14,000. Ventura was arrested without incident at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.

Prosecutor Esther Suarez credited the Newark Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration and Hudson County Sheriff’s office K-9 Unit for assisting with the arrests.

Ventura was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-5a and N.J.S. 2C:35-5b; and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute while within 1,000 feet of a School in violation of N.J.S. 2C: 35-7a.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
