Man Wanted In Hawaii Arrested By Prosecutor’s Fugitive Unit


MAN WANTED IN HAWAII ARRESTED BY PROSECUTOR’S FUGITIVE UNIT

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Sept. 22, 2017, detectives from the Prosecutor’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested Daniel M. Brito, age 27, of West New York, who is wanted in Hawaii on three counts of Sexual Assault Against a Child.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said detectives made the arrest after the Honolulu Police Department informed the HCPO Fugitive Unit that Brito could be in the area. Detectives then began a brief investigation and Brito was located and arrested at 6209 Bergenline Avenue in West New York where he worked as a trainer at a gym. He was arrested without incident.

Brito is scheduled to have his First Appearance Hearing and Extradition Hearing on Thursday, September 28, 2017, in the Hudson County Administration Building located at 595 Newark Avenue in Jersey City. He is expected be held in the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending extradition proceedings.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the cooperative effort of the Prosecutor’s Fugitive Unit, the West New York Police Department and the Honolulu Police Department for Brito’s arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
