MAN SENTENCED FOR 2020 FATAL SHOOTING IN HOBOKEN

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Friday, December 9, 2022, the Honorable Angelo Servidio sentenced Tahjae McDougald, 25, to 14 years in New Jersey State Prison for the 2020 shooting death of Marquise Davis in Hoboken.

McDougald, of Willingboro, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-4a(1) on Monday, September 26, 2022. His sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act. The State was represented in this case by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Edward Bilinkas.

“It is our hope this sentence helps the victim’s family and loved ones continue healing and we thank the Court for its service in this matter,” said Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Edward Bilinkas.

On Friday, August 7, 2020, just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Hoboken Police Department responded to an apartment at 300 Grand Street on a report of a shooting. Responding officers found the victim – later identified as Marquise Davis, 24, of Willingboro – with apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:52 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be Gunshot Wounds to the Abdomen and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
