MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Thursday, September 28, 2023, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Raul Pena, 31, for committing a sex crime on a woman in Jersey City. The crime occurred on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at a residence in Jersey City. The 29-year-old victim met the defendant through an acquaintance in the hours leading up to the assault.

Pena, of Brooklyn, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(7), a crime of the first degree. He was arrested at his residence with the assistance of the NYPD Special Victims Unit. He is being detained at Brooklyn Central Booking pending extradition to New Jersey.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department and NYPD Special Victims Unit.
