JERSEY CITY MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING 9-YEAR-OLD STEPDAUGHTER

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a 47-year-old Jersey City man on charges he sexually assaulted his 9-year-old stepdaughter. The crimes occurred in November of 2021 and March of 2022 inside of a Jersey City residence.

The name of the defendant is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

He is charged with Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a crime of the second degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City and remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
