JERSEY CITY MAN ARRESTED FOR THE MURDER OF DAVON GORDON

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information:

On Wednesday, December 14, 2016, Maurice Miles, age 30, of Jersey City was arrested by detectives from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit for the murder of Davon Gordon, age 25, of Bayonne.

Miles was arrested on a warrant after a grand jury indicted him on December 6, 2016 on the charges of Murder in violation of N.J.S. 2C:11-3; Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1; Possession of a Firearm for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-4; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5; and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-7.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for the arrest.

On Saturday, June 4, 2016 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Jersey City Police Officers were dispatched to West Side and Fairview avenues in Jersey City on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found Gordon and Terrell Corbin, age 25, of Roselle, who had been shot. Gordon sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:15 a.m. Corbin was also transported to Jersey City Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his lower extremity and was treated and released from the hospital.

There are a total of six individuals who have been indicted in connection with the June 4, 2016 double shooting. Also indicted were:

• Katrell Trent, age 26, of Jersey City, was indicted for the Attempted Murder of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C: 5-1 and N.J.S. 2C:11-3, and several firearm offenses.
• Darrion K. Trent, age 28, of Jersey City, was indicted for the Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1.
• Tony J. Martinez, age 32, of Bayonne, was indicted for the Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1.
• Tavin Robinson, age 21, of Jersey City, was indicted for the Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1.
• Kawon Robinson, age 26, of Jersey City, was indicted for the Aggravated Assault of Corbin in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1, and several firearm offenses.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
