PEDESTRIAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN JERSEY CITY HIT-AND-RUN

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian on Monday, May 15, 2023.

At approximately 12 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Newark Avenue and Coles Street. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as a 35-year-old Jersey City resident – with serious injuries at the intersection. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene. The victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he is currently in critical, but stable condition.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
