HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING FATAL SHOOTING ON DANFORTH AVENUE IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old man on Danforth Avenue in Jersey City on Sunday, April 23, 2023.

At approximately 12:00 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of Danforth Avenue in Jersey City. Upon arrival, responding officers located an unresponsive male victim – later identified as Khalil King of Fayetteville, North Carolina – inside a retail establishment located at 152 Danforth Avenue with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:16 a.m. The Cause and Manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
