Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information: On February 27, 2016, at approximately 10:32 A.M., the Jersey City Medical Center EMS unit received a 911 call requesting assistance at 72 Van Reipen Avenue in Jersey City. Upon their arrival, EMS personnel discovered the lifeless body of Rajendra Maharaj, age 62, in the 3rd floor residence. A post mortem examination of the victim’s body conducted on February 28, 2016 determined that the cause of death was suffocation and manner of death was homicide. No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, however a preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim may have known his assailant.
