HANDGUN, HIGH CAPACITY MAGAZINES RECOVERED DURING JERSEY CITY NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force has charged two men with various drug and weapons offenses following a narcotics investigation in Jersey City. The investigation led to the seizure of a handgun, two high capacity magazines, more than 170 grams of cocaine with a street value of over $7,000, more than four pounds of marijuana with a street value of over $8,000, various prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, and over $20,000 cash.

Talha Khan, 27, of Jersey City, and Hameem Khan, 21, of Rosendale, New York, are charged with:

1. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(1), a crime of the first degree;
2. Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(1), a crime of the third degree;
3. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Cocaine) Within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree;
4. Possession of a Firearm While in Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, a crime of the second degree;
5. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3n, a crime of the third degree;
6. Two counts of Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Devices (High Capacity Magazine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, crimes of the fourth degree;
7. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(11b), a crime of the third degree;
8. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Marijuana) Within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree;
9. Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(1), a crime of the third degree;
10. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Heroin) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree;
11. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Heroin) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree;
12. Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Vyvanse) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(1), a crime of the third degree;
13. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Vyvanse) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(13), a crime of the third degree;
14. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Vyvanse) Within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree;
15. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Xanax) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 35-10.5a(3), a crime of the third degree;
16. Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Endocet) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(2), a crime of the fourth degree;
17. Possession of Proceeds from Criminal Activity in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a, a crime of the third degree;
18. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with the Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 36-3, a crime of the fourth degree;
19. Two counts of Tampering with Evidence in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:28-6(1), crimes of the fourth degree;
20. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1), 2C:35-5b(1) and 2C:5-2, a crime of the second degree;
21. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Heroin) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1), 2C:35-5b(3) and 2C:5-2, a crime of the third degree;
22. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1), 2C:35-5b(11b) and 2C:5-2, a crime of the third degree;
23. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Xanax) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(3) and 2C:5-2, a crime of the third degree;
24. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Endocet) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(2) and 2C:5-2, a crime of the fourth degree;
25. Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute (Vyvanse) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1), 2C:35-5b(13), and 2C:5-2, a crime of the fourth degree; and
26. Conspiracy to Possess Proceeds from Criminal Activity in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a and 2C:5-2, a crime of the third degree.

Both men were arrested after a court authorized search warrant was executed at an apartment at 159 Mallory Avenue on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. Prosecutor Suarez credited the Narcotics Task Force with the investigation and thanked the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team for its assistance in the arrests. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
