Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Sunday, December 1, 2019, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the West New York Police Department responded to the area of 66th Street and Boulevard East on a report of an unconscious man on the ground at that location. Upon arrival, West New York Police Officers found that a man had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the collision.

The man has been identified as a 56-year-old from New York City. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. The man remains in critical condition.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the West New York Police Department determined that the man was a pedestrian and that he was struck while crossing 66th Street at the intersection of Boulevard East. No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators are currently asking that anyone with information about the collision to please contact the Regional Collision Investigation Unit at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s official website at http://www.hudsoncountyprosecutorsofficenj.org/homicide-tip/.
