COLLISION UNIT INVESTIGATING FATAL COLLISION IN NORTH BERGEN
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating a collision in which the operator of a motorcycle was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday, May 5, 2023. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a motorcycle lying in the road in the area of Granton and Liberty avenues in North Bergen with no apparent operator.
During the preliminary investigation, responding police officers located an injured male in the area of 76th Street, several blocks from the motorcycle. The male – later identified as Joshua Huayamave, age 23, of North Bergen – was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Palisades Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:40 p.m.
The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are actively investigating this case.
