30-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in Jersey City


30-YEAR-OLD MAN FATALLY SHOT ON CLERK AND FORREST STREETS IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Friday, July 10, 2020, just after 12:40 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Clerk Street and Forrest Street in Jersey City on a report of a man shot inside of a car.

Responding officers found the victim, a 30-year-old Jersey City man, later identified as Yusef Mathis, with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at 12:52 p.m. at the scene of the shooting. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
