17- YEAR-OLD FATALLY SHOT IN JERSEY CITY

17- YEAR-OLD FATALLY SHOT IN JERSEY CITY
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez released the following information:

On August 9, 2016, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Jersey City Police were dispatched to 517 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police found an unresponsive male with an apparent wound to his upper body. The victim was later identified as Leander Williams, age 17, of Jersey City. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12 a.m.

Police Officers also found a female victim, age 16, with an apparent wound to her upper body. The victim was found sitting in a chair and she was responsive but disoriented. She was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where she was treated and released.

Police Officers were also dispatched to a nearby Crown Chicken Restaurant located at 40 Crescent Avenue in Jersey City on a report that an additional shooting victim was located at that address. A second female victim, age 12, with wounds to her upper body was found at that location. The victim was also transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of her wounds where she remains in stable condition.

No arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
