HUDSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING DEATH OF MAN FOUND ON NEWARK BAY SHORELINE IN BAYONNE

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the death of a man who was found dead on the shoreline of Newark Bay in Bayonne.

On Friday, January 27, 2023, the Bayonne Police Department received a report of a possible body on the shoreline of Newark Bay in the area of the Thomas W. Zito Bayside Apartments in Bayonne. The Bayonne Police Department and Bayonne Fire Department arrived on the scene and confirmed the lifeless body of a man had been recovered behind the building in the area of 549 Avenue A. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:02 p.m.

The man has not yet been identified. The Cause and Manner of death of are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are actively investigating this case.
