Woman Dies After Shooting In Bayonne; Man Arrested

WOMAN DIES AFTER SHOOTING INCIDENT IN BAYONNE; JERSEY CITY MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On September 22, 2019, at approximately 5:10 a.m., members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to 484 John F. Kennedy Boulevard on a report of a potential domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, Bayonne Police Officers located an unresponsive female victim with an apparent gunshot wound.

The female victim has been identified as Diamond Robinson, age 26, of Bayonne. She was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the scene. The cause and manner of death are pending investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with the assistance of the Bayonne Police Department and a suspect was identified.

At approximately 5:55 a.m., Anthony Shuler, age 28, of Jersey City was arrested by members of Bayonne Police Department on East 21st Street in Bayonne without incident.

Shuler has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3; Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5; and Certain Persons Not To Possess a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit for the preliminary investigation and the Bayonne Police Department with the arrest and for assisting with the preliminary investigation.
