West New York Man Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault


WEST NEW YORK MAN CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF YOUNG GIRL

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

A 41-year-old West New York man has been charged and arrested for sexual assault of a young girl when she was six or seven years old. The victim, who knew the defendant through family, is now 12 and the alleged crimes occurred over several months approximately five to six years ago.

Vikier Castillo Meza, age 41, of West New York, was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(1), a crime of the first degree; Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2B, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A, a crime of the third degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at approximately 5 p.m.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified of the alleged sexual assault of the girl after being contacted by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP).

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest.

A detention hearing for Castillo Meza is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
