THREE SHOT ON SATURDAY MORNING IN JERSEY CITY INCIDENT; ONE DEAD

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On July 20, 2019, at approximately 12:45 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of New Heckman Drive in Jersey City. Responding Jersey City Police Officers found two injured males at that location. The males were identified as an 18-year-old from Jersey City and a 17-year-old juvenile from Jersey City. Both were transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A third male, later identified as Jordan Herron, age 19, of Jersey City, was privately transported to Bayonne Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1:00 a.m. The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be gunshot wound to the chest and manner of death to be homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
