THREE SENIOR FRAUD EVENTS TO BE HELD IN SEPTEMBER

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor is hosting three Senior Fraud information sessions for the residents of Hudson County in September 2019.

The free sessions will provide educational information on identity fraud and scams as well as security and safety. The material is directed at senior citizens, but all residents will find a benefit and are encouraged to attend. There will be promotional items being handed out and the first 25 participants at each session will receive a free smoke detector.

The first event will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church located at 472 Bergen Avenue in Jersey City. The meeting will be held in the first-floor community room and will follow the church’s Grandparents Day Service at 11:00 a.m.

The second event will be held jointly by the Prosecutor’s Office and the Kearny Police Department on September 12, 2019, between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at the Henrietta Benstead Senior Center located at 60 Columbia Avenue in Kearny.

The third event will be held on September 19, 2019, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in the first-floor community room at the Maureen Collier Senior Center located at 335 Bergen Avenue in Jersey City. U.S. Postal Inspector Michael Bruno will be providing information about identity theft, scams and financial exploitation.

All three events are free and all residents are invited to attend. Remember, “Fraud Affects Us All.”
