HUDSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT ARRESTS AND CHARGES JERSEY CITY MAN

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Saturday, April 10, 2021, at approximately 1:05 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Deivis Feliz Rivera, age 37, of Jersey City, on charges involving multiple sexual crimes against a young girl who was between the ages of 11 and 15 at the time. The victim was in the custodial care of the defendant when the crimes occurred.

On April 9, 2021, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit were notified by the Jersey City Police Department about the alleged crimes. Feliz Rivera was arrested in Paterson without incident following an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Feliz Rivera has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1), a first-degree crime; Sexual Assault by Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a second-degree crime; Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a second-degree crime; and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a, a third-degree crime.

After his arrest, Feliz Rivera was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending his first appearance.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Paterson Police Department with the arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
