PEDESTRIAN INVOLVED IN JERSEY CITY HIT-AND-RUN COLLISION HAS DIED

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The female pedestrian who was struck in a hit-and-run collision on Wednesday night in Jersey City has died. Judith Baller Fabian, age 83, of Jersey City was struck while crossing John F. Kennedy Boulevard. She was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on November 18, 2021 at approximately 6:00 p.m. The cause and manner of death is under investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

On Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at approximately 7:20 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of John F. Kennedy Boulevard near Harrison Avenue in Jersey City on reports of a pedestrian struck with serious injuries. Upon arrival, responding officers found a female victim with serious bodily injuries. The driver who struck the woman fled the scene in a red/maroon sedan.

The events surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time.
