One Dead, One Injured In Sunday Shooting Incident In Jersey City

ONE DEAD, ONE INJURED IN SUNDAY AFTERNOON SHOOTING INCIDENT IN JERSEY CITY

 

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On August 13, 2017, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Jersey City Police Officers responded to a report of possible gunshots fired in the area of Forrest Street in Jersey City. Upon arrival, officers found a victim at 322 Forrest Street with apparent multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, later identified as Jaharee Broadway, age 19, of Jersey City, was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:15 p.m. The cause and manner of Broadway’s death are pending an investigation by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

A second victim, age 22, of Jersey City, was also located and found to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was also transported by EMS to JCMC where he began to receive treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
