MAN INJURED IN MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON THE PULASKI SKYWAY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On May 2, 2018, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Kearny Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle collision between a motorcycle and an automobile on the Pulaski Skyway.

Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a GMC Envoy had collided with a Yamaha motorcycle.

The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit and the Kearny Police Department determined that the motorcyclist, a 25-year-old male from Roselle Park, was apparently thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the collision.

The motorcyclist was transported to University Hospital in Newark for an evaluation of his injuries. At this time, he remains in the hospital in stable condition.

Robert Woods, age 65, of Metuchen, was identified as the driver of the GMC Envoy. He has been arrested and charged with Assault by Auto in violation of N.J.S. 2C:12-1, a third-degree crime. Woods was also charged with Title 39 motor vehicle violations.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit and the Kearny Police Department with the investigation and the arrest.

The Hudson County Regional Fatal Collision Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Kearny Police Department.
