JERSEY CITY MAN CHARGED WITH SEX CRIME INVOLVING 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested William Dudek, 56, of Jersey City, on charges relating to a sex crime involving an 11-year-old girl.

Dudek was charged with Sexual Assault by Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a crime of the third degree. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance. The State has filed a detention motion, which is tentatively scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

The crime occurred on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, before 4 p.m. on Central Avenue in Jersey City. Dudek is a stranger to the victim.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and thanked the Jersey City Police Department for their assistance.
