MONMOUTH COUNTY MAN ARRESTED IN SECAUCUS ARMED ROBBERY AND AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On February 13, 2020, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Dajan Mindingall, age 27, of Eatontown, on multiple charges related to an armed robbery and aggravated sexual assault in Secaucus on January 15, 2020.

Mindingall was arrested at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack where he was being held following his arrest related to a string of armed robberies in multiple jurisdictions throughout New Jersey. He was processed and remains in custody in the Bergen County Jail.

Mindingall has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault (armed) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(4), a first-degree crime; Aggravated Sexual Assault (during a robbery) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2A(3), a first-degree crime; Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1A(1), a first-degree crime; Criminal Restraint in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-2B, a third-degree crime; Burglary in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2A(1), a second-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for Unlawful Purposes in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1), a second-degree crime; Unlawful Possession of  a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B(1), a second-degree crime; and Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(4), a fourth-degree crime.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in the early morning hours, the Secaucus Police Department received a report of woman who had been robbed and sexually assaulted at gunpoint at the Red Roof Inn at 15 Meadowlands Parkway. The investigation determined that shortly after 1 a.m., Mindingall forcibly entered the victim’s hotel room, held her against her will, robbed her of over $400 and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and the Secaucus Police Department for their work on the investigation and the arrest, as well as the Monmouth County and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Offices.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
