JERSEY CITY MAN FATALLY SHOT NEAR MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On June 14, 2017, at approximately 10:10 p.m., Jersey City Police Officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street on a report of a male gunshot victim. Upon arrival, the responding Police Officers found a victim on the sidewalk near the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street.

The victim was identified as Alshaakir Talmadge, age 20, of Jersey City, who suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the upper body during the incident. Talmadge was unresponsive and was immediately treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS where medical treatment continued. He was pronounced dead at approximately 11:40 p.m. The cause and manner of his death are pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner.

No arrests have been made and the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
