JERSEY CITY MAN DIES FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN ASSAULT 

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Thursday, July 5, 2018, at approximately 12:15 a.m., Jersey City Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Lexington Avenue in Jersey City on a report of a street fight. Upon arrival, responding officers found an injured male on the sidewalk in the area of 21 Lexington Avenue.

The man, later identified as Glen Mackie, Jr., age 29, of Jersey City, was unresponsive with an obvious wound to his head. Mackie was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.

Mackie was pronounced dead at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018. The Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the head and manner of death to be homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
