JERSEY CITY MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF 11-YEAR-OLD BOY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit has arrested a 63-year-old Jersey City man on charges that he sexually assaulted an eleven-year-old boy in his care.

Leon Rueda, age 63, of Jersey City, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4A(1), a crime of the second degree, and Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2B, a crime of the second degree.

Rueda was arrested on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m. at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for detention pending trial which will be heard on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
