As a result of the investigation, Homicide Detectives were able to identify Lowy who lived in the immediate area of Pershing Field.

Lowy has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S. 2C: 11-3, a first-degree crime; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Knife) in violation of N.J.S. 2C: 39-5, a fourth-degree crime; and Possession of a Weapon (Knife) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-4, a third-degree crime.

On April 16, 2018, the Medical Examiner’s Office declared the Cause of Death to be a stab wound to the chest and Manner of Death to be Homicide.

On Sunday, April 15, at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of an aggravated assault at Pershing Field located at Manhattan and Central avenues in Jersey City. Responding Police Officers found an unresponsive male victim in the park who was bleeding from a wound to his torso.

The victim was later identified as Bello. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:05 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Bello was involved in an altercation in the park with another male who subsequently walked away from the scene.
