Infinity Institute Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault of Student


INFINITY INSTITUTE TEACHER CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF FEMALE STUDENT

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

A 67-year-old Long Island man and teacher at the Infinity Institute in Jersey City has been charged and arrested for sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl who was his student. The victim, who is now 12, reported the sexual assaults occurred at the school in 2019.

Apparao Sunkara, age 67, of Hicksville, New York, was arrested at his home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m. Sunkara was charged with Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2B, a crime of the second degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4(A)1, a crime of the second degree.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Nassau County Police Department for the investigation and arrest.

Sunkara is currently being held on the charges in Nassau County.
