FOUR ARRESTED BY VIOLENT CRIMES TASK FORCE IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Jersey City Violent Crimes Task Force arrested four men on September 17, 2016, in the vicinity of Manhattan Avenue and Tonnele Avenue in Jersey City on various firearm and controlled dangerous substance charges.

On Saturday at approximately 1:15 a.m. members of the Task Force discovered a loaded, illegal firearm in a vehicle parked at the intersection of Manhattan Avenue and County Road. Officers also discovered suspected heroin and cocaine.

Task Force members arrested Al-Rashon Brown, age 22, of Newark; Ronald Lee, age 26, of Union; Rajhon A. Manuel, age 26, of Newark; and, Mustafa Stribling, age 29, of Newark.

Lee and Manuel have been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5B(1). Stribling has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5B(1) and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-7B.

Brown has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-5B(1); Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-7B; one count of Possession of a Firearm While in the Course of Committing a Drug Offense in violation of N.J.S. 2C:39-4.1A; two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-5A(1); two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 500 feet of a Public Property in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-7.1A; and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-10A(1).

Bail information for each defendant was not available at the time of this release.

This marks the fourth night over a one-week span that the Violent Crimes Task Force has removed illegal firearms from the streets of Jersey City.

The Jersey City Violent Crimes Task Force is an on-going cooperative initiative designed to combat violence and take illegal firearms off the streets of Jersey City. The Task Force consists of Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Detectives, Jersey City Police Officers and Hudson County Sheriff’s Officers.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
