Bayonne Man Charged in Jersey City Fatal Shooting

BAYONNE MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER IN CONNECTION WITH JANUARY 23 FATAL SHOOTING IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the January 23, 2022 fatal shooting of Rasheen Bostick in Jersey City.

Nysheed Gleaton, 32, of Bayonne, has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3(a)(1), Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4(a)(1), and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5(b)(1). He was arrested during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 27, 2022 by the Wallington Police Department and was in possession of a handgun.

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, at approximately 12:28 p.m. the Jersey City Police Department responded to a shooting in the area of 32 Belmont Avenue. Responding officers found a male – later identified as Rasheen Bostick, 32, of Jersey City – with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:55 p.m.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate the fatal shooting. Prosecutor Suarez thanked the United States Marshals Service and the Wallington Police Department for their assistance. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
