SEVEN HANDGUNS, OVER 17 KILOGRAMS OF HEROIN/FENTANYL SEIZED IN NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Hoboken Police Department arrested six individuals and executed multiple court-authorized search warrants in Hoboken, Jersey City, Elizabeth and Montclair.

As part of the months-long investigation, seven handguns, two of which were reported stolen, over 17 kilograms of suspected heroin/fentanyl, over 2.5 kilograms of cocaine, and various illegal narcotics with a street value in excess of $15 million were recovered. Additionally, over $20,000 in suspected proceeds from narcotics transactions was seized.
The following individuals were arrested:

• Darryl Mobley, 37, and Erica Rivera-Mobley, 41, both of Montclair, are each charged with Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-4, a crime of the first degree; Operating a Controlled Dangerous Substance Production Facility (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-4, a crime of the first degree; multiple counts of Possession of a Weapon While Committing a CDS Offense in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, crimes of the second degree; five counts of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), crimes of the second degree; two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35:5a(1)/35-5b(1), crimes of the second degree; two counts of Conspiracy to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35-5b(1), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(2), a crime of the first degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1(a), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(1), a crime of the first degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1(a), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(11), a crime of the third degree; Conspiracy to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35-5b(11), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1(a), a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-3, a crime of the fourth degree; two counts of Theft in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-7, crimes of the third degree; two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device (hollow point bullets) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3f, crimes of the fourth degree; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (defaced firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3d, a crime of the fourth degree; two counts of Possession of a Prohibited Device (large capacity ammunition magazine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-3j, crimes of the fourth degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Xanax) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10.5a(4), a crime of the second degree; and Possession with the Intent to Distribute (Xanax) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1(a), a crime of the second degree. Daryl Mobley is additionally charged with Certain Persons not to Possess a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b, a crime of the second degree.

• Marquis High, 34, of Hoboken, is charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C; 35-7a, a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 35-5a(1), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1, a crime of the second degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (marijuana) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree; Money Laundering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a, a crime of the third degree; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:36-2a, a crime of the fourth degree.

• Anthony Crawford, 38, of Elizabeth, is charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10a(1), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C; 35-7a, a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (cocaine) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree; Money Laundering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-25a, a crime of the third degree; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a crime of the second degree; Possession of a Weapon While Committing a CDS Offense in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, a crime of the second degree; Certain Persons not Possess a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-7b(1), a crime of the second degree; Tampering with Evidence in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 28-6(1); two counts of Distribution (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; two counts of Distribution (heroin/fentanyl) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a; two counts of Distribution (heroin/fentanyl) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree; Distribution (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Distribution (cocaine) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7a, a crime of the third degree; and Distribution (cocaine) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1a, a crime of the second degree.

• Darrell Love, 25, and Chad Robertson, 41, both of Jersey City, are each charged with Possession of a Weapon While Committing a CDS Offense in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4.1a, a crime of the second degree; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a crime of the second degree; Possession (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2c:35-10a, a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 35-5a(1) and 2C:35-5b(3), a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) within 1,000 Feet of a School in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C; 35-7, a crime of the third degree; Possession with the Intent to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) within 500 Feet of Public Property in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-7.1, a crime of the second degree; and Conspiracy to Distribute (heroin/fentanyl) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 35-5b(3), a crime of the second degree.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and Hoboken Police Department with the investigation, with assistance from the Essex County Tactical Response Team, Union County SWAT, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Unit, the Montclair Police Department, the Elizabeth Police Department, the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, and the Essex County K9 Unit in the arrests. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
