56-YEAR-OLD MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN SECAUCUS FIRE

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force, the Secaucus Fire Department, and the Secaucus Police Department are investigating a fire that left a 56-year-old man with serious injuries. 

At approximately 2:34 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, the Secaucus Police Department and the Secaucus Fire Department received multiple smoke detector notifications from a fourth floor residence at 777 Fifth Street. Upon arrival, the Secaucus Fire Department found heavy smoke in apartment 406 and a 56-year-old man inside the unit with life threatening injuries. The man was transported to Hudson Regional Hospital and then transferred to the West Chester Medical Center Burn Unit where he remains in critical condition. 

The fire was contained to the single unit and the Cause and Origin remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force, the Secaucus Fire Department, and the Secaucus Police Department.
