THREE MEN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING, ROBBING WOMEN IN JERSEY CITY
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit has arrested three men following an investigation of a report that two women were robbed and sexually assaulted inside of a Jersey City apartment.
Mohamed Mohamed, 24, Abdalla Abdelsalam Elsayed, 20, and Mahmoud Hegazi, 18, all of Jersey City, are charged with: two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(3), crimes of the first degree; two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(4), crimes of the first degree; two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(5), crimes of the first degree; two counts of Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1a(2), crimes of the first degree; two counts of Kidnapping in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b(1), crimes of the first degree; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1), a crime of the second degree; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), a crime of the second degree; Two counts of Criminal Restraint in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-2a, crimes of the third degree; two counts of Terroristic Threats in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-3a, crimes of the third degree; Conspiracy to Commit Robbery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2a(1) and 2C:15-1a(2), a crime of the second degree; two counts of Theft by Extortion in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-5a, crimes of the second degree; and two counts of Computer Criminal Activity in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-25c, crimes of the third degree. The defendants were arrested at their residences on Friday, September 20, 2024, and are being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility. The State has filed a Motion to detain all three defendants, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2024, the Special Victims Unit was notified that two women reported being robbed and sexually assaulted inside of an apartment on Bergen Avenue in Jersey City. During the investigation it was determined the female victims arranged to meet the three defendants. While at the apartment, the women were held against their will and sexually assaulted. A gun was shown and money was stolen from the victims.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit is credited with the arrests and investigation, with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
