27-YEAR-OLD FATALLY SHOT IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On March 29, 2017, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Jersey City Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 360-2 Van Horne Street in Jersey City on a 911 call reporting possible gun shots. Upon arrival officers found an unresponsive male victim in a parking lot behind that location.

The victim, later identified as Terrel Smith, age 27, of Jersey City, had apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the mid-section of his body. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by ambulance where he was pronounced dead at approximately 6:05 p.m.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
