16-YEAR-OLD FATALLY SHOT IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 209 Bidwell Avenue in Jersey City. Responding Jersey City Police Officers found an unresponsive male with apparent gunshot wounds at that location.

The victim, later identified as Judane Holmes, age 16, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:35 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the Cause of death to be gunshot wounds and the Manner of death to be homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
