MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING JUVENILE IN WEST NEW YORK

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On Friday, October 18, 2024, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested a 37-year-old male following a report that a juvenile female was sexually assaulted in West New York.

Christopher Ortiz, of West New York, is charged with Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a crime of the second degree; Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a crime of the third degree; and Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a crime of the fourth degree. He was arrested at his residence and transported to the Hudson County Correction Facility pending his first court appearance.

A 14-year-old juvenile female reported that in the early morning hours of March 11, 2024, she was approached by an unknown male and she entered his vehicle. The female reported the defendant later sexually assaulted her inside his residence.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit with the investigation and arrest.
