ARSON TASK FORCE INVESTIGATING BAYONNE FIRE

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are investigating a fire that critically injured a male on Monday, September 16, 2024.

Shortly after 5:20 p.m., the Bayonne Fire Department received multiple reports of a fire at 167 West 9th Street. Responding officers found a fire in the basement of the residential building. A 56-year-old male was located with serious injuries. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center for treatment, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

The Cause and Origin of the fire remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department.
