HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING SHOOTING DEATH OF 49-YEAR-OLD MAN IN JERSEY CITY

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a 49-year-old man on Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a 911 call reporting shots fired in the area 1922 Kennedy Boulevard. Responding officers found a male – later identified as Juan Rodriguez, 49, of Jersey City – with apparent gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 8:55 p.m. The Cause and Manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case. No arrests have been made at this time.
